Milk used to be delivered on electric milk 'float' vehicles in the UK in glass pint bottles. The milkman left pints of milk sealed with a foil top and took the used bottles left for them by the customer. I used to watch the bottles being washed and sterilized on a conveyor through the factory window as a small child. Today we have Tetrapak waxed paper boxed milk or plastic jugs. the Tetrapak website is classic wooly green washing https://www.tetrapak.com/us/sustainability/carton-recycling Plastic jugs are already being discussed here. How on earth did we get to this low point?

By putting the bottom line first. Cheaper manufacturing = bigger profits = Good™. All else be damned.

Or cheaper manufacturing = lower prices = people will buy your products otherwise they buy from someone else and you go out of business.
