You have a Web/Mobile app that's a mess? That needs some love and a responsible maintainer? Or need to migrate an old codebase to something more modern? A web app that's not responsive for a mobile screen and needs some optimizations?
Where other programmers find enjoyment in working with new shiny infra/frameworks/tech stacks I find enjoyment and purpose on maintaning stuff, taking care of software that powers current systems and serve real users. No matter how old the tech stack is, today more than ever it is crucial to make software reliable and stable. I maintained and migrated many systems over the years, doing it gradually over short or longer time periods depending on the task, with an eye to quality and with the help of tests.
I’m an experienced remote worker, based in the EU. I over communicate and willing to build trust. I’m a contractor and I already have some gigs, I’m currently available for ~20hrs/week at 35/40€/hr depending on the project.
A note on AI coding: I know how to best leverage these tools in assisting me BUT I’m the solely responsible for the code I push so you won’t get any slop or vide coded stuff from me. I know when to use these tools, when not and for what.
No autocomplete? Why? I mean is the current trend to leave all the control from the experienced dev hands and just review the final code? Not my cup of tea, I'll keep using Cursor and "vibe code" with smart rewrites
Kiro does have autocomplete. It's just not advertised on the product page as a star feature.
In my experience using Kiro you are still going to be hands on with the code. Personally I choose to turn AI powered autocomplete off because when I do touch the code manually it's usually for the purposes of working on something tricky that AI would likely not get right in autocomplete either.
However, the Kiro autocomplete is average in capability in my experience, and you can absolutely use it to write code by hand as well.
I don't feel the same, I just have a bad under the skin feeling just thinking about what your code could look like as of now. I feel like there won't be enough human/processes/money to clean up all the slop, hoping for a big reset at some point. And no a sci-fi future AI won't help us clean the slop
Remote: Yes, exclusively
Willing to relocate: No
